ahhhh ROMA! you were so good to us!
I traveled with my favorite blogger and partner in crime Sophia, for a very short but super beautiful retreat in Rome last week. Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese by Accor Hotels host us for the two nights we were there and it was spectacular.
We started our first day with a happy hour on their magnificent terrace: literally the best spot to enjoy a glass of wine during lunch or sunset with a wide open view on the whole city!

Terrasse Cuisine & Lounge, opens up on the Villa Borghese gardens, on the Villa Medici park and in the horizon you can see the San Pietro “cupola”: it’s a unique belvedere on the Eternal city.
Oh and we have a little anecdote on how your perception of The San Pietro cupola is, and from this terrace you have the perfect example! In fact, it is designed to be seen even better from further away to always have the feeling that you are closer to it than you actually are.
If you are facing San Pietro and turn around, and start walking on the opposite direction, turn around again and you will see the Cupola bigger than when you were actually closer to it. AMAZING, isn't it?

With the help of a friend who lives in Rome we made a list of all of the place we could managed to see in 48 hours so this maybe could be of need if you happen to stop by in Rome for just a couple of days like us.

Our hotel position was ideal, both if you already know the city and if you don’t/never been.
It’s really central and 3 mins walk to Piazza di Spagna and 1 minute to Villa Borghese… well at least to one of the entrances of this immense garden. After our little happy hour at Sofitel, we did exactly this: getting lost through the fountains and statues of Villa Borghese looking for a way out but taking all of the time possible to enjoy every single bit of it.
We walked through Piazza di Spagna with its imposing 135-step staircase, got lost again on our way to Piazza del Popolo and back again to Villa Borghese to enjoy the second happy hour of the day this time with the most pink and orange roman sunset. After a couple of drinks and wine glasses we ordered some AMATRICIANA pasta and we were all out and ready to get some sleep for the next day’s busy schedule.
Woke up to a rich buffet and american at Sofitel and continued by walking (yes, the position of the hotel was EVERYTHING!!!) to the Trevi Fountain. We arrived sort of early (8:30ish am) but they were still cleaning it and there wasn't access directly to it, so we decided to stop by again around lunch hour to also have a better light! (tip: around 12 the whole fountain is in the sunlight, this will avoid having burnt pictures or pieces of it in the shade :)
We continued towards the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori where we found the cutest bar facing the market.

When we went back to Trevi, we were ready to “fight” with all of our energies to get some space in front of the fountain to shoot pictures without hundreds of tourists in the back: WE MADE IT!!! (tip: Trust me when I am saying it took some time, but people will eventually leave to make room for other people and that’s when you need to mark your territory and start shooting as fast as possible. It takes patience but I promise the results will be optimal!)

Happy as hell with our photos, we went back to the room to change and went straight to the Colosseo! Here as well we made sure we took a little spot just for ourselves and continuously shot each other to make sure we didn't “lose the spot”.
Our dinner reservation for that night was at FELICE with some friends from Rome where we had the best Cacio e Pepe and Carbonara EVER.
SORRY (not sorry) if I am making you hungry with all of these food mentions but trust me if you happen to be in Rome it will be something that will be worth knowing :)
Days go by really freakin fast when you’re having fun and as for our bit of a third day we just took it really comfortable and decided to walk around without a precise end point. We took an Uber to Piazza Trilussa and walked on the Trastevere. After that, we just roamed around the little hidden streets with the cutest Gelato places and magnets shops…

Oh I was in LOVE!

Ahhhh ROMA! sei stata pazzesca!

Eccomi ancora in viaggio insieme alla mia blogger preferita, per un breve ma bellissimo weekend a Roma. Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese ci ha ospitate per le due notti ed è stato spettacolare.
Abbiamo iniziato il nostro primo giorno con un aperitivo sulla loro magnifica terrazza: uno dei posti migliori in assoluto per godersi un buon bicchiere di vino a pranzo o al tramonto con un immensa vista su tutta la città. Le foto parlano da sole, no?
La Terrasse Cuisine & Lounge, si apre proprio sui giardini di Villa Borghese, il parco di Villa Medici e la Cupola di San Pietro: una vista unica della Città Eterna.
Ah e abbiamo anche un piccolo aneddoto sulla percezione della Cupola, e proprio da questa terrazza sono riusciti a farci provare l’esempio perfetto. Infatti, è stata progettata per apparire più grossa quando si è lontani rispetto a quando si è più vicini. Se sei rivolto verso la Cupola e ti giri e cammini nella direzione opposta per qualche metro, rigirati, e vedrai che ti sembrerà molto più grossa di quando eri più vicino! L’ho trovato molto affascinante!
Con l’aiuto di un nostro amico che vive a Roma, abbiamo fatto una lista di posti che saremmo riuscite a vedere in sole 48h. Spero possa esservi utile se come noi, sarete a Roma solo per qualche giorno.

La posizione dell’albergo è ideale sia per chi conosce già la città e sia per chi no/non c’e’ mai stato. Il suo punto più forte è che si trova in una posizione centrale: 3 minuti a piedi da Piazza di Spagna e 1 minuto da Villa Borghese… beh, almeno una delle entrate dei suoi immensi giardini.
Subito dopo il nostro aperitivo in terrazza abbiamo fatto proprio questo: perderci tra le fontane e le statue di Villa Borghese, cercando una “via d’uscita” passeggiando lentamente per goderci lo spettacolo il più possibile.
Siamo passate per Piazza di Spagna con le sue scalinate da 135 scalini, per perderci di nuovo andando verso Piazza del Popolo, e di ritorno al Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese per il secondo aperitivo della giornata, ma questa volta sotto un romantico cielo romano colorato di rosa e arancione.
Dopo i curatissimi drink dell aperitivo abbiamo deciso di ordinare due piatti di AMATRICIANA dello chef e poi? dritte a letto per prepararci alla pienissima lista di cose da vedere il giorno dopo.
Ci siamo svegliate per fare il pieno di energie con una colazione a buffet all'americana, e da li abbiamo iniziato a camminare (si, la posizione dell’albergo è stata fondamentale!) verso la Fontana di Trevi. Siamo arrivate abbastanza presto (verso le 8:30) ma stavano ancora pulendo la fontana e non c’era possibilità di accesso diretto, così abbiamo deciso che ci saremmo fermate di nuovo li intorno all’ ora di pranzo per avere anche una luce migliore! (Suggerimento: alle 12 circa l'intera fontana è alla luce del sole, ed è perfetto per evitare di avere immagini bruciate o parte della fontana in ombra :)
Abbiamo continuato verso il Pantheon, Piazza Navona e Campo de Fiori, dove abbiamo trovatoun bar carinissimo proprio di fronte al mercato.
Quando siamo tornate a Trevi, eravamo pronte a “combattere” con tutte le nostre energie per ottenere qualche spazio di fronte alla fontana per scattare foto senza centinaia di turisti dietro di noi: ce l'abbiamo fatta !!! (Suggerimento: fidatevi di me quando vi dico che ci vuole tempo, ma la gente finirà per lasciar posto ad altre persone e quello è il momento perfetto per “marcare il tuo territorio” e iniziare a scattare foto a raffica. Ci vuole pazienza ma prometto che il risultato sarà ottimale!)
Felici come delle bambine delle nostre foto, siamo tornate in camera a cambiarci e siamo andate dritte verso il Colosseo! Anche in questo caso abbiamo fatto in modo di “conquistarci” un pò di posto solo per noi, per scattare le foto perfette!
Quella sera abbiamo cenato da FELICE con alcuni amici di Roma dove abbiamo mangiato il miglior “Cacio e Pepe” e “Carbonara” in assoluto.
Chiedo scusa in anticipo se vi sto facendo venire fame parlando di tutte queste prelibatezze (hehhe) ma credetemi se vi capita di passare da Roma, avrete bisogno di sapere i nomi di questi piatti :)
Il tempo passa in fretta quando ci si diverte e per quanto riguarda il nostro ultimo e terzo giorno, abbiamo deciso di godercelo camminando senza una meta precisa in testa, semplicemente per respirare meglio l’aria di Roma un po meno da turiste. Abbiamo preso un Uber direzione Piazza Trilussa e camminato sul Trastevere. Dopo di che, abbiamo girovagato per le stradine nascoste imbattendoci in carinissime gelaterie e negozietti di souvenirs e calamite ...

Oh, come mi sono innamorata!
